Who We Are
Veterans Care Gap Fund, established in 2023 by a coalition of veterans and senior home care experts, addresses the challenges senior veterans encounter in accessing essential home care services through Veterans Affairs.
How it works
Fundraising Activities
Money is raised through various fundraising activities, including donations, grants, events, and partnerships.
Financial Allocation
Funds collected are allocated to cover the immediate in-home care needs of eligible veterans.
Assessing Eligibility
Eligible veterans are identified based on their inability to pay out-of-pocket fees for in-home care and their immediate need for such care.
Payment of In-Home Care
The Fund pays the necessary down-payment and any outstanding invoices for the in-home care services required by the eligible veterans.
Continued Support
The Fund continues to cover the cost of in-home care for veterans until the VA starts reimbursing the expenses
VA Reimbursement
Once the VA begins to reimburse the in-home care expenses, the funds spent are returned to the Veterans Care Gap Fund.
Recycling Funds
The reimbursed funds are reinvested into the Fund, allowing it to support more veterans facing the same financial barriers to in-home care.
Supporting Additional Veterans
The recycled funds are used to assist new veterans seeking immediate in-home care, creating a sustainable cycle of support for those in need.
This flow of funds ensures that resources are continuously repurposed to help veterans access the care they require, effectively bridging the gap between their immediate needs and the reimbursement process of the Veterans Affairs.
